Default Rotors on 96-98 Civics

Hey guys, I have a question regarding my front rotors on my car. Here this story, I bought a pair of front rotors for my Civic in the summer. They are cross drilled and slotted rotors and work great. After summer passed, the rain started and I noticed my rotors got really rusty over time, but whenever I drive, it seems that the rust will eventually go away...(but only where the brake pads are since they hit the rotor everytime I apply my brake). The only thing is, that the inner part of the rotor never gets touched by the brake pad, and rust accumulates big time. I've sanded it down before to get rid ot the rust, and it looks way better. On a local automotive message board, people say to paint it with high temp rust paint. Is that safe to do? What should I do, if anyone has any suggestions or anything please let me know!

(Sorry if the post sounds confusing, here are pics of what i'm talking about)

1. Here is a picture of when i first installed my front rotors (everything is bling bling!)

2. Here is a picture of the wheel on and a few weeks of driving in the summer time (everything still looks nice and shiny)

3. Here is a picture when it started to rain a lot, and only a few days of driving the 1.6 around the city (Notice where the rust accumulates)

sorry for not helping but did you notice a difference when you installed the x-drilled/slotted rotors? i've read a lot on here that they're all show and actually eats the pads faster. what's your opinion?

im guessing that crossdrilled and slotted brakes are mostly for hardcore trackies then im guessing that their not all season so their mainly for full race cars. cus on the sides of my blanks are some what rusted(stock).

thats my explanation idk if its accurate

I had slotted rotors for awhile...Im back to blanks (take that for what you want)

Yes, you can definately paint that section of your rotor w/ high temp paint to protect them from rust.
Ive done it.

Hey, well i only replaced them because my stock rotors needed to be replaced when i first purchased my car, there were more than 125 xxx km's on them and the previous owner said they needed to be replaced. So of course i noticed a difference, Ha. I guess only cause my previous ones were worn out big time.

thanks for the input guys

Don't worry about it the rust. It looks like the company didn't zinc coat the entire rotor - or perhaps not well enough. Also, maybe all the zinc coating came off.

Rust is pretty normal. You will need to replace your rotors again before any type of rust incurs structural question marks.

Rust is no big deal. However, feel free to paint them. Use a high temperature ceramic paint. I'd reccomend this on the hat, but not inside the vanes cause thats where the heat radiates from. CHeck the right paint for that, engine enamel may work. Don't take my word on the edge, but you can paint the hat of the rotor, lots of people have. Just MAKE SURE to cover the rotor surface itself. yes, i saw someone paint their WHOLE rotor white then wonder why stopping sucked. cause the paint burned against the pad surface.

Hahahahaha. Dunno why this is so funny. But yeah, they sell some rotors with the hats already painted, so this might be a viable alternative

You must have had a really special pair then, cuz i have those on my car now and they are rusting

On another note, what did you use to paint your suspension components that looks a hell of a lot nicer than the somewhat rusted look that mine is getting.
