Ripped off Vin #s?

Re: Ripped off Vin #s? (jdmjay04)
I scratched up the VIN that displays on my windshield so no one can just walk up, write it down, and have their boy at honda cut a key for them; so they can come back at a night of their choosing and steal my ride...thats how my accord got jacked in Northern Va when I was at school.
Its not a common thing to do, but mine is alright cause my VIN is in 20 other places on the car. If you see a car with no VIN posted ANYWHERE, you are probably looking at a stolen car..

I don't know why people scratch or rip off the vins..... when this happens it just raises suspicions on the motor....if you know its legit...leave the vin on....

it's most likely a stolen motor if it has the vin plates taken off. no one takes off the VIN numbers on the motor for fun. on the vin number on the dash i just put a piece of tape over it.

i havent seen the magazine... but i think you might be mistaken about what you saw..... or maybe not... was the VIN missing and you saw the brass rivets still in teh tranny? or did you see just 2 holes where the rivets are supposed to be with no VIN... because 94-95 motors and jdm motors have no VIN and just 2 empty holes on the tranny as well as the block... are you sure what you saw is what you saw lol

I am pretty sure that scratching the vin is illegal. Just put a bussiness card on top of the vin. Makes it look like it accidently slid there (my dads old grand marquie would get things stuck there all the time) and if a cop pulls you over, and asks you about it, you can just move it. If you scratch your vin, a Cop will think you stole the car.

No it has two screws on each side and it still has a piece of the vin number on there. You could still see two green pieces. Its deffinetly a vin number. JDM trannys have two empty holes . And new trannys from acura or honda have empty holes like my block.
