Replacing engine mounts 98 Civic LX

Replacing engine mounts 98 Civic LX
So, I'm having all of the usual bad engine mount symptoms... vibration in reverse, a bit of a hard shift from first to second, and now some vibration at idle while driving. I want to replace the mount(s) and figured since they were pretty cheap and I'll be doing it myself, I should just do all of them. BUT... I looked at the parts on RockAuto and there are lots.... Which one(s) is/are the most likely culprit(s) of my symptoms and which should I be replacing? Thanks for any help! And what about the transmission mounts? Should I just go ahead and do them as well?

Re: Replacing engine mounts 98 Civic LX
id just replace them all or buy energy suspension inserts to support the old worn mount I would not buy a oem replacement. the mounts I bought on ebay were like these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Civic-96-00-D-B-series-Engine-motor-mount-swap-kit-EK-B16-B18-B20-B18a-B18C-/121142037426?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1996%7CModel%3ACivic&hash=item1c34a0cbb2&vxp=mtrif you don't have money or this is just a daily cruiser u don't plan on sinking any money in get these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Energy-Suspension-16-1105R-Engine-Mount-/190909982892?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c731f28ac&vxp=mtr

Re: Replacing engine mounts 98 Civic LX
most problematic mount is the rear one. the engine will rock back and forth an inch when hitting the gas and letting off.. do you have the front torque mounts(front of the motor by the a/c and one on the transmission) still in there?

i'm also in the market for mounts, but solid mounts like those, especially on 4 cylinders, make me wonder how bad the vibrations are, i have stiffer aftermarket mounts on my 240(s) before the vibration can get old in traffic >.>
apexi do you run aftermarket torque mounts as well?

Re: Replacing engine mounts 98 Civic LX
I bought the stock ones off RockAuto. These should work:
DEA A6520 (torque mount)
DEA A6502 (torque mount)
DEA A6556 (driver's side motor mount)
Beck/Arnley 1041109 (rear) - contrary to what others say, you CAN get to this one without pulling off that rear T-bracket under the intake manifold. Just jack up the engine a bit - it's a frustrating battle but it CAN be done.
DEA A6526 (transmission side mount - manual transmission) - this part might be different if you have an automatic
Hope this helps - my car definitely rides better since these mounts were all replaced. My driver's side motor mount was actually split into two pieces!

Re: Replacing engine mounts 98 Civic LX
Wow, thank you so much, this is exactly what i was looking for. Yes, this is my daily driver, not planning on doing anything special to it, as I am actually going to be giving it to my daughter in a couple of years as her first car. So, I know the top two engine mounts are fairly easy to get to, and the rear one isn't AS easy, but I've looked at it and determined that I can get it off without removing anything else. What about the other mounts you mentioned?

Also, thanks to everyone else for your replies. Yes, this is just my daily driver, nothing special, never will be, I just hate the vibration at stop lights...it's annoying.

Re: Replacing engine mounts 98 Civic LX
my front torque mounts I filled with polyurethane but would like to replace them for some aftermarket ones. my bushings are a 65a and vibration is like stock at 1k idle. its gets alil shaky when low rpm or clutch slipping with a 6 puck... but it eliminated any wheel hop I ever had. filling my torque mounts is probably softer then the bushings so it supports but still gives to distribute through the other mounts.
