it needs to be pryed off. be careful though, don't want to damage the housing.

Once you remove all the bolts and starter, you need to get it started by prying, and then wiggle it off.

Make sure you support the tranny when doing this...you dont want to damage the input shaft or crank by letting the tranny just fall to the ground after it slides out enough.

Yeah, that's a good point (tranny support).

OP:

You didn't mention if the engine was still in the car or not. If it's still in the car make sure to give the engine ample support too or you're going to expletive up the driver side mount.

there are 2 starter bolts there should be 6 longer 17mm bolts.
most veh have 2 braces from underside on outer edges of the oilpan.
thats 2 short 17mm and then 2 10's and 2 12's that hold the flywheel cover on.

Just to state the obvious, it needs to be pried off because of the Hondabond used to seal both sides of the case.

Thats not the reason it needs to be pry, you dont even need hondabond or any gasket maker on the tranny housing to the block. You are prying the shaft out of the clutch, thats what holds the trans on the block when the bolts are out (that and 2 dowl pins)

I misread the post. I thought he was taking the cases apart. My bad.

Yes, dowels and input shaft.
