Removing heatshield from Cat

Would it be alright if I took the heatshield off my cat? It's been rattling like crazy for a few months and I just never let it bother me, but it's gettin annoying. Would it be somethin easy I could do myself?

i removed mine b/c my exhaust was hitting it. I havent had any problems.

its easy.i cut mine off when it started to rattle.
