Random Tech Hi-flow cat heat shield rattle?
Has anyone had any problems with the Random Technology Hi-flow catalytic converter heat shield rattling?
I have their 94-95 gsr spec cat and get this really annoying metallic vibrating/rattling sound at about 3500 rpm. It sometimes happens at different rpms, but is almost always there at 3.5k.
I've been trying to find any place that the exhaust could be touching a heat shield w/o luck. The sound definitely is coming from the general area of the cat, but the heat shield on the cat conv doesn't seem to be broken.
Just wanted to know if anyone else has this cat with similar problems.

I haven't had any experience with that cat, but I have had rattling from my exhaust system. I suggest that you retighten all the bolts at both the cat (where the header connects to the cat) and at the axle back. Make sure they're both torqued similarly. That seemed to have helped out my problem.

Re: Random Tech Hi-flow cat heat shield rattle? (boush95ls)
For the header-to-cat connection I'm using the 8x80mm bolts, and fender washers supplied w/ the Random Tech install kit along w/ the oem springs and nuts.
For the cat-to-exhaust b pipe connection I'm using 12mm bolts, washers, and oem nuts.
I double checked all connections and everything was tight.
I thought the fender washers on the spring bolts might have been touching the cat when it heated up, but they're real snug and don't seem to have enough play in them to get close enough.
Still stumped on what's causing this.
