I'm thinking about removing all the heat shields under the car. My question is:

Any reason not to remove the heatshields bolted under the car other than noise and comfort?

Is there anything I risk by doing so? I don't mind the noise since I'm completely gutted, and the heat I don't think will be a big factor.

I'm thinking of removing all the heat shields under the car. The ones that are by the gas tank, and by the shift linkage. All of 'em.

I wouldn't remove the SHEILD arround the Gas Tank and Shift Linkage....

If I where you and my car was lowered enough and on a rainny night when that pot hole is filled with water and looks level with the ground, i don't want it hitting my linkage cause it might break something that i'll regret.

well the heat shield sits above the shift linkage and the exhaust is under the shift linkage, i'll hit the exhaust before anything.

oops forgot about the heat shields around the cat, and the ones above it..

Anyway, I don't really see any reason to remove the heat shields, aside from aesthetics. They don't weigh that much and they provide some protection. Although the ones around the cat aren't that big of a deal (although it does keep the cat hotter), I removed mine around the cat because they had rusted and were rattling, and I just haven't replaced them yet.

I lowered my hatch a couple of months ago and the heatshield around the cat started rattling(just like it did with my crx) so i'm gonna remove it. That rattling is annoying!! I never had any problems with the shield being removed on my crx, it was way lower then my hatch and i even parked it over dead grass

I took mine off about a year ago for the same reason. The main reason was that they were rattling and I couldn't figure out which it was so in desperation one morning i jacked my junk up and got em off. I would agree that leaving them there would help keep things cooler hence their names, heat shields but removing them wouldn't do much either.

Yeah I removed mine the day I got my car. It was buzzing like a bitch. Ditched those and the buzzing was gone. No problems thus far. Taking them off can be a PITA.
