Icon6 removing bumper/rust repair

hello everyone,

i recently purchased a new civic, it was a hard choice between the cavalier or lx, lol jks

however there is a small patch of rust between the rear quarter panel n rear bumper. i know i need to drop the bumper just a bit to get at the rust, i know i dont need to take the entire bumper off to do the job. ive located a small bolt probably a 8mm directly behind the rust patch, connecting the rear quarter panel to the rear bumper. it seem like the only screw holding that section of the bumper on, is there any more screw i should know about? any advice would be helpful. i know how to fix the rust, just any assistance with the bumper removal would be appreciated!! thanks guys

I know that there's suppose to be a screw that's underneath the fire wall of the quarter panel, and with that, you unscrew it and to take off part of the bumper, but behind the patch??? Someone must of ghetto rigged.

yeah dude your right, sry its not directly behind the panel but its within the vicinity, if i take it out will it give me enough leverage to fix that rust spot? i dont wanna have to take off the entire bumper that would suck

Removing the rear bumper cover is your best bet, otherwise you'll have to bumper hanging in your way. Removing it isn't that hard, remove the screw you were previously talking about on both sides, then pop your trunk and remove the bolts holding your bumper cover on, total process should take less than 5 minutes.

bumper removal and install shouldnt take more than 10 mins tops even if your reading outta haynes. But for sure take that bumper off to avoid damage. Dont you go cutting corners now.

What he just said is exactly what I was going to tell you to do. It's the best way to get to work with the patch and not removing the whole bumper.
