Default reliability B series vs D series

My friend is looking to get a car, and she is debating oh which to get : 94+ teg or 92+ civic. i heard somewhere that D series is more reliable than the B, and my friend has a bone stock 97 gsr with 160k miles that had piston ring problems at 150k, my civic has over 200k with no problems at all.

she wants reliability over performance basically

thanks

Both are very reliable in stock form, no mods. After that the ball falls where it falls.... Good Luck to her

both are very reliable as long as your not looking to push a lot out of them if your looking for performance go with a B series

they are both hondas... so both are very reliable. it comes down to maintenance cost more or less.

if you want a motor to last forever, you need to keep up with the maintenance schedule as well as have things checked frequently like belts, hoses, fluid condition, axle boots... and so on. b-series have a few more parts and sometimes higher cost for parts and labor (if you aren't doing the work yourself).

and i guess really the B's have more seals that can leak, but then again the b20 equipped CR-V was deemed the most reliable vehicle on the road for a very long time.

her call, if she isn't modifying the car or motor, then she should make her choice according to something else like her favorite color or options like sunroof or alloy wheels.

Pretty much every 92-01 d/b/h/f motor is reliable in stock form.

It's when you take them apart that reliability is questioned.
