I haven't seen that set up as of yet, I also don't see why you would do something like that. It serves no purpose what so ever on a coup. Not even sure if it even serves a purpose period.

I wouldn't connect my harnesses to any pillar bar such as that. If the car had a cage in it then I don't see that being a problem. I would move the harnesses to the factory rear seatbelt locations or to a bracket or eyelette on a cage/rollbar.

BTW that rear pillar bar looks hot on the EG/EX hatches.

Huh
If you use a harness with out a cage, if you roll your car, you won't be able to duck your head. So, you'll be crushed by the roof.

The odds of this happening are extremely low, but it's always nice to be safe.

does this rear pillar bar do anything for the HB's? or is it just a bling factor? (in other words for looks)

supposedly it stiffens the rear up just a little bit more like addinganother strut bar or a rear strong bar

Supposedly, it stiffens up the rear. Which might promote oversteer. I think it serves the same purpose on a coupe.

As to how effective it is, I have some doubt. But it's got bling, which is why everyone jocks them.

i have the top fuel pillar bar for my ek and it stiffened up the rear a bit. my friend is running the j's pillar bar on his ek and he said he noticed a difference also.

I dunno about that fancy schmancy carbon fiber bar you posted a pic of, but my milled aluminum bar made a difference in my 92 hatch's handling, and I have a 4pt bolt in rollbar as well. The c-pillar bar made the rear of the car more rigid.. not a huge amount but I was able to feel a difference. I bet in stock seats or shitty tires or stock suspension... you wouldnt even notice the difference though.

yeah but would these results be the same for a coupe (assuming you guys that answered all have HB's)?

do you guys think it will make a difference in a coupe?

i don't think it will make much of a difference in a coupe. also, you won't be able to sit passengers in the back because they will hit their head on the bar.

- i have one on my 97 hatchback.
- no, i did not feel a noticeable difference, maybe i will when autox season starts.
- no, do NOT use this as a harness bar, especially without a roll cage.
- 4 point harness will not kill you if you do not have a cage, you can still slip out of that.

- yes it should still fit with your cusco cage, Supertwinz has a cusco cage in his 99-00 hatchback with Miracle bars that connect to where a rear pillar bar would go.
