Default rear defroster

hey guys. i have a 93 hatch. i just bought a new glass cause mine was shattered recently. i installed it and one side of the defrost plug broke off the glass. i was hoping having just one side plugged in would still defrost it but i guess it dosent. is there any way to get that fixed or am i gona have to get a whole new glass again?

rear defrosters work by sending electrical current through those lines. which heat up.
and for it to heat up it needs a + and - current
just get the broken piece and solder it back on its previous position

try soldering it back on. the wire.

can those lines go bad? on my coupe the top quarter defrosts and then the middle doesnt and then the bottom does. both the connecters are attached. anyone have or had this problem?

OP: Loctite and/or Permatex make a kit so you can glue that piece back on. I don't soldering would work. Search amazon for rear defrost kit or something like that.

Yes, they can go bad. They are basically just painted on the inside of the glass. If anyone has scraped the inside of your window with a razor blade then your lines won't work. Also, cleaning with a harsh solvent would cause breaks. If you look real close, you should be able to see where they are broken. They make kits to repair them but it's a pain and sometimes doesn't work.

i searched for the permatex kit. i might go wtih that but how does that work? dosent really show or give a description.

I've never actually used the tab glue kit but I imagine it's just like an epoxy. I just remember seeing it when I was looking for the kit to fix the actual lines.
