ratteling from the botom end, should i worry
when i start my car and im siting next to a wall or something for the sound to bouce off of, i can hear what sounds to be a rod ratteling. but after i drive it i cant hear it anymore. and if i pop the hood and listern i cant hear it from the top. its very weird and not very loud. but my warranty on my jdm motor just expired so now im kinda paranoid. my buddys 99si kinda does it, but not nearly as loud. does anyone else ever notice this or is this just kind of a honda thing. i dont know. and theres no metal in the pan or in the filters or anything like that. just kinda worried. anyone?

Does it sound like a knock (deep undertoned), or does it sound like it's a higher pitch rattling sound? Could just need a valve adjustment if it's the latter.

I was thinking the same thing. If it's a rattling / ticking sort of noise, you need a valve adjust.

are very sure its a rod it could eaisly be valves rattiling put some high test gas in your car like 93 or somthing
and lack of oil could make it knock too check your oil and oil pressure

ok, changed my oil from 10w30 to 5w30 and used some lucas oil stabilizer about 2 days after. the noise is noticeable now. and i dont think its a rod, because everyones told me a rod is a consistent ticking sound, and it doesnt get oulder with rpm, actualy at 1000 its gone it right at 750 and if you bump the trottle on the decel its the loudest. this sounds like its basicaly got bolts ratteling around in the pan or something. if you get on the ground in front of the car you almost cant hear it, but if you lay behind the front tire, wow, its loud. i cheked all the exaust and everything. could it be a water pump? its not leaking any oil or water. im ready to pull my hair out.

go to sears and get a stethescope in the automotive tools section. should help u pinpoint the noise. as for the lucas oil stablizer, i would recommend not to use it. if u have a good quality oil, u shouldnt need it. i seen a test where they mixed it with several different oils, and each test they did, it caused the oil to get aerated and get foamy. the air bubbles caused the oil not to stick to the gears in the demonstration as well as .99 cent dirt cheap oil did without the additive. i was impressed.
