Default Randomly get map sensor code (code #3)

OK, here is the deal. My car used to have an AEM EMS, wideband, and all sorts of other BS things hacked into my engine wiring harness (no I did not do this a shop did). Since then I have put a stock ECU back in and a stock b16a2 (00 Si). Also there was a pigtail that was used for a 3 bar MAP sensor and the stock one cut off. I aquired a new MAP plug and soldered it on, used the shrink wrap on it as well. Now, here is the issue. If anyone so much as puts their foot against my kick panel where the ECU is I will end up throwing a MAP (code #3) code. I reset my ecu by switching off my cut off switch, and it will still do this. Have to remove the kick panel and move the wires in the harness at the ecu. After doing this it will be fine from anywhere from a couple hours to a few months. It has just gotten to the point of annyance and I have to decide whether to get a new engine wiring harness or what. Also, my battery is in the truck and I have the power cable to the starter runnign near the ECU but it is heavily shielded 2 gauge wire. I am also trying to figure out if there is supposed to be a wire grounding the ecu from the little cradle it sits in. I do not remeember seeing one and I am curious is this may be the issue. Oh, I also still get 300+ miles per tank so I know it isn't a faulty MAP sensor. Also, put a new one in replacing a used one. Please help this is just plain annoying.

Did you look over the wire to see if anything was loose from like the plugs or loose anywhere? Maybe the map sensor wires to the ecu plugs have come loose and whenever people kick over there they come loose and when you move it they go back in but not enough to be permenant.

Just a thought

I dig bro. Yes I have checked that, allt he plugs are tight and plugged in right. In fact I took out the whole damned harness to resolder and shrink wrap everything. And yes, I did a perfect job Just had a thought, are you talking about in the ecu plugs that the wire moves int he plug or the plug itself?

Yes, i wasnt talking about the plugs that go into the ecu. I ment the wires themselfs. The pins.

In that case, then yes there seem to be a couple that can move, they aren't solid in there. I know I had to replace one because a wire cut really close to the plug, but this isn't the one that is loose. I plan on tossing in my R bottomend soon so I may get a new wiring harness, I don't know.

You never want to do a swap when you have pervious codes. That would more then likely be passed on to the new swap.

Check which ones are loose and see if they match up to the map. If so, have the car on (with no codes) and move those wires until the code comes on. Do one by one so you could see which does it. Good luck.

Yea, I am aware of that but it would be running on Hondata and it would have a different engine wiring harness as well. If it is the MAP plug in the harness what can I do? FInd a donor harness and get a new pin for it?

This is an OBD2 car? If your going to run an OBD1 harness then yea no need to fix this since itll be gone when you convert to OBD1 for Hondata.

But if you run a jumper harness then itll still be there.
