Raising the revlimiter
I want to raise my revlimiter about 500rpm. What is the best way to do this? Also, I want a spark-inhibited revlimiter not the factory fuel cut-off...something besides an aftermarket ignition

Re: Raising the revlimiter (714si)
Your not gonna make that much more power in the powerband by raising 500 rpm go like 9,000 depending on your set up!

Re: Raising the revlimiter (dohcsideSi)
I think the only way you can get a spark-inhibited revlimiter would be with an after market ignition like msd soft touch rev control. I wish they came with that instead of a fuel cutoff but I guess it would be bad for emissions so they don't.

Re: Raising the revlimiter (maztur)
I only want 500rpm because I still got stock valvesprings on the D16y8. I am running turbo so I THINK that a little higher revlimit can give me more power. I also want to stay in the powerband better.

Re: Raising the revlimiter (maztur)
it wont help you
you make no power above the stock rev limit
its there for a reason.
upgrade your cam/spring setup then go for revving.

Re: Raising the revlimiter (95CivicEX)
I actually have a VAFC, and I have it set so that I am still in VTEC when I shift. However, I feel that the turbo should help me moreso on the topend (duh); therefore, raising the revlimit.

Re: Raising the revlimiter (dirtySOHC's)
I have a D16Y8 with an ITR ECU. I can rev to 8,500 RPM but have only taken it to 8,000. If you're just adding a 500 rev limit, it's only even worth getting it chipped.

Re: Raising the revlimiter (95CivicEX)
To answer your question, YES it is worth the hook up. Have some fun before your motor swap. You'll feel a big difference in the fuel maps(higher redline too). I raced my friend's EG wth a B16A the other day and stuck on him like glue, he only won by a car after third gear.
I also had a friend with a 94' Si with a GSR ecu, he was never able to chirp on third but after the ecu hook up he can. So hook it up and have some fun.

Won't cause any damage unless you take it past redline all the time.
