quick question about a ek

Default quick question about a ek

the car is a 96 civic hatch if i installed a k20 will check engine light come on or will the complete system be able to scan the k20 for dtc codes ? just wondering for emissions and inspections

If you swap in a k20 you are going to have to use the computer that comes with the swap and you shouldn't have any check engine lights. You might get one right away but there isn't any reason you can't diagnose and solve the problem.
As for emissions I can't help you, here in MN we don't really have emissions lol.

Yeah, I don't know much about the K20 swap, but he should be using an ECU with K-Pro or whatever that software is on...You shouldn't have any CEL's, get that scanned.

so the system should be able to be scanned with a odbII scanner and all Diagnostic system should be intact?

also i dont want to use the factory ecu because the k20 has a self learing ecu that dont like after upgrades like boost etc

No ECU likes boost lol.

Just go with the Kpro ECU, the factory ECUs have immobilizers, and they don't like being mixed with different engines.
