Yes if you're O2 sensor was bad and not registering then you would get a CEL. However...how old is the O2 sensor?

Beats me, I bought the car at 172k miles and its now at 183k...dont have any idea if it was changed out at all by the previous owner. By the way, for the record, my engine light is not on. I just wanted to ask before I bought a new sensor.

Well you could always spray some PB Blaster on the threads and unscrew it from your exhaust...take a look at the tip. If it's all corroded or covered in black soot or something...change it out. Besides...with that mileage I'd probably just change it out to be safe....you can generally tell by the rest of the condition of the car if someone took enough care of it to change things like that. But an O2 sensor is something a lot of people skimp over when they do a "tune up" at their larger mile intervals.

Yea, i was thinking of doing it anyways...along with a bunch of other routine maintenance type stuff.

See i searched a lot on this bog issue and some say it will, some say it wont. Ive probably seen over 20 different posts of why a car would bog so i guess i dont know what to believe...all i know is that when my car gets to operating temps then it bogs in low rpms and at WOT.
