QUESTION: Power Steering Fluid Leak, Boot, Steering Rack, Help! (PICS INSIDE)
Alright guys, would appreciate it if you could help me out here. Left the civic at home whilst I went to university for 10 weeks, before I left the power steering fluid was on minimum and I thought to myself i'd top it up when i got back..Came home and saw this:
Had a little investigate and notice one of the boots is broken at the end of the steering rack, gave it a poke and a load of power steering fluid came out, wtf?!
Basically whats wrong? Is it normal and my boot is just broken or have I got a leak from the rack somewhere?
Any advice much appreciated...

Maybe the actual rack is leaking, not the boot. If I were you, completely scrub off all fluid and grime build up really really good with some brake parts cleaner and then check to see where it's leaking from. Check all hoses, clamps, boots, etc...work from there.
I had a leak once, but it was the actual metal line that went to the rack. Somehow it got shaved and a hole appeared. Cut the line and ran a rubber hose, been great ever since.

use a pick and poke the boot if you see fluid coming out then your rack is leaking
you would need to replace the rack
you would need to replace the rack

Perfect timing actually. You can get the kit for like $65 that loops your system or look around for a Civic CX (I think that's the model with manual rack) manual rack. The manual rack would be better than looping it, but be a little more pricier (new go for $250 an used, who knows).

You are correct...the CX is the model without power steering.
