question bout vtec controller in my jdm b18c sol
right now i have my vtec set at 5800 i believe wiht the new chipped ecu. tach says 6000 but its off a little i think. if i got a vtec controller and changed vtec to 5500 or 5600 would that improve performace, what are the gains and losses of doing this? is it worth it? thanks 94 si hybrid 97 jdm gsr b18c....redline at 8200

Not sure what mods you have, but lowering the VTEC crossover won't necessarily improve performance. But if you use the controller to fine tune the fuel curve, like on a dyno, you can smooth out the powerban, and usually pull a few more horses out of it as well. If you don't know what how to tune your controller, you can lose power, so in that case, it wouldn't be worth it. But if you're planning to dyno, or have a friend w/experience tuning, you can make some addtl power.

with the stock or ITR cams, as well as stock (dual-stage) intake or even skunk2. get vtec to about 4800-5200rpm, no more then that. otherwise you're loosing power and torque. remember that GSR trannys gears are not made for that kind of switch over so everytime you switch to 2nd you might be falling off vtec...

did the dyno tell you that or did you guess? It may feel like it kicks harder at 5800 thats because the power lag from your low lobe. On the dyno most dohc motors with mods or not like around 4800 to 5000.
