Default Question about obd on ls swap into eg

Hi im a little confused on the obds on some ls swaps and the plug and play heres how the list of things im confused about correct me if im wrong:

B18A1 obd1 with the harness that came with it or the harness from the d series in my eg will work it'll go and no prob with a hydro trans ofcourse

B18B obd1 with the harness it came with or the d series harness in the eg will work plug in and go no prob

This one i got off a write up that was stickied it was from Dasfinc heres the link https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/dans-massive-obd2-b18b1-into-1992-civic-cx-hatch-write-up-2239971/ i might have read it wrong though but it was and obd2 B18B from a 96 ls and he used the obd2 B18B harness and it plug right into the eg no prob no modifying if i remember correctly

Also i was told obd0 b18a1 was no good so i was told not to try it one more thing i wanna make sure this is right the obd for the harness and motor has to be the same thanks in advance

I think you've got it all figured out. Basically any '92 - '93 B18A1 or '94 - '95 B18B1 engine will work fine. And yes you can use a '96 - 01 B18B1 and drop it in with no wiring if you use the integra harness. In the case of the OBD1 engines you can either reuse the stock civic harness and cut a lengthen a couple of connectors to reach their respective sensors on the new engine. Or use an integra harness and not have to modify anything.

oh and when doing the ls swap with an obd2 b18b using the harness that came with the motor it would plug right into the connectors by the shock towers like in the write up Dasfinc did?

You can use any of the following
-Original D-series harness -> you will need to cut and lengthen wires for certain connectors such as the IAT sensor.
-'94 - '95 B18B1 harness -> plugs in, no mods neccessary
-'92 - '93 B18A1 harness -> you may end up not having a map sensor plug using this harness. Check and see if the B18A1 uses a firewall mounted MAP sensor, if does and you have anything but a '92 - '93 DX/LX civic you will not have a MAP sensor connector.

Yes, 100% plug and play.

im pretty sure its mounted on the firewall also i have a 95 dx hatch so does that mean if i did an obd1 b18a1 swap i wouldnt have a map sensor? also what about obd0/91-down b18a1 what is need for this or should i just not do this swap im bring this swap up because i was offered a 90 ls interga for 250 its was in a rear end collision and motor ran great and sorry bout all the questions

Yes, but you can get around this by using a B18B1 throttlebody, or keep the A1 throttle body and get firewall mounted MAP sensor and vacuum line from a '92 - '93 DX/LX

Don't bother with a '90 - '91 you will need to get an OBD1 distributor, possibly alternator, I'm not sure if the OBD0 alternator plug is different then the OBD1 version, same goes for the injectors. The '90 - '91 A1s are only 130hp anyway.

More or less, although its at least somewhat more worthwhile. Have you considered to trying to sell the B16 swap to an EF guy and then put that money towards an OBD1 B16A swap? The big thing is the tranny, if you can get a hydro tranny the electrical stuff can be delt with at least somewhat cost effectively, you can get 1.6L injectors from a D16Z6, which aren't that hard to find, You will need a distributor though, and I'm not sure about the alternator. If your stuck with the cable tranny i'd have to be pretty desperate before i'd go ahead with this swap.

i dont have the time to sell it and then buy an engine again, i have access to a hydro tranny, i was planing to swap the gear sets between them, the hydro is an LS tranny. right now i just need a running car, if my new rebuilt head hadnt come to me warped, i would not be in this situation, i would have a d15b7 with D16a6 head which i just happened to rebuild

Ok, this is a little off topic for his situation. But I've got a 96 ex (OBD-2) and have been wanting to drop in a b18b. My question is can I use the harness off the b18b and have it still plug in at the shock tower? Or will I have some wiring to do?

You cannot use an integra harness in a 6th gen civic, the civic harness is basically one piece that goes through the firewall to the ECU, you don't really have any choice but to wire. On the upside though because the entire harness can be removed so easily from the vehicle you can work on it comfortably on a work bench as opposed to laying on your back under the dash. Check out technet.ff-squad.com for wiring info, specifically the IACV fix. If the integra harness comes with the engine sell it to someone doing an OBD2 B-series swap in a 5th gen civic as they can be quite handy.
