EDIT: its a 96 civic DX
A friend and myself installed new exhaust on my car (headers back) and the 2nd O2, on the cat, is hitting the power stearing rack and crimping the wires... Im not sure what to do. I took a pic and I hope it will help. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

congrats on being one of the first newbies that can actually post a pic, you should teach some of the regulars on here how to do that, as far as the o2 sensor, i would extend the harness and route it away from the ps accessories. Nice test pipe btw.

Haha I know its hard to understand something w/o pics so I figured it wouldnt hurt.. at the top of the O2, RIGHT where the metal ends and wires start to show, is where it hits. Its going to break most likey since it is always touching the rack and hitting bumbs and so on with just make it move more. Is there an O2 thats shorter, as in not as long as the one I have now??

Is that the front of the converter? The secondary o2 sensor should be at the back of it. (or in the midle on some)

it doesnt look like your exhaust is even mating up good to the header.you have a huge gap.. try to find a way to fix that and then see if it fixes it

If this is the second o2, chip the ecu so you won;t need it. Plug the whole and call it good. All the second o2 does is let you know how the cats doing its job

The secondary o2 shouldn't even work properly with a test pipe.

cool, thanks... Ive actually been looking into the OBD1 conversion, which I think Im going to go that route

it looks like you have the converter on backwards. The secondary O2 sensor is supposed to be reading exhaust after it has passed through the converter. If I were you I'd do like they said and go to OBD 1 and just use the O2 sensor to keep the hole plugged.

It does look like that's possible. I thought I was looking at a test pipe and a resonator.

It seems that way, but it's not the case. A test pipe, cat, or whatever can only go on one way, since one side has a triangle flange.

Looks to me that who ever made the test pipe, f'd up. The O2 bung should have been welded to the other end, near the triangle flange. Go to a muffler shop and have it modified.

You're right, it will break over time. Don't leave it like that.

looks to me like you have the wrong header for your application...

The easiest way to do this is take the o2 sensor out of the hole, put a spark plug in there, and break it off... the zip tie the o2 sensor up and out of the way somewhere, but leave it plugged in... sometimes it will trigger an ECU code, sometimes it wont...

Either that, or instead of tying the o2 out of the way, buy an o2 simulator for $50.

umm.. guys have bought a dx header.. and this has nothing to do with the test pipe.
plug the o2, and spend $25 on a o2 simulator. We sell them here honda-tech.

again.. to stop the confusion.

ya take it out or, im not sure about this i could me a moron for asking this but where the flanges meet and you bolt them together can that be turned so the test pipe can be turned a little so the o2 sensor sits at a different angle?

now that i look at it, the test pipe is not for your correct application... thats a GSR test pipe... I had the same issue with my Si... I tried to put a GSR cat on it, and it hit like that. cut the flanges off and flipped it around.

That is the cat, I dont think I can turn it TOO much.... Im going to mess it it tomorrow and take it to a buddy of mine who is really mechanically smart.

all the test pipes I've seen, and even the one I have, has the bung in the front of the cat. which its not even really a cat. Just made to look like one.

The original thread starter....he will see a CEL in a fews days most likely, as I did.
I just bought an O2 simulator, problem solved.
(I have other CEL issues to deal with now ..... *sigh*)
...ohh and just extend the wires from the O2 to keep them from getting pinched... I had to do the same thing just to get mine to reach the hole.

That cat seems awfully far up, is that how it is on DXs? Mine is back towards the shift linkage. I had this problem too though, with my 2.5" Catco. The 02 would hit the cat shield, so I have to flip the cat around so it was on the bottom; only to be molested by road construction two weeks later.

there is a Doughnut gasket there.... I thought that would be best, is there a different one I should use instead? Or just buy a smaller one?

Why is that o2 bung in the front?

On my EX, it's in the rear... by the three bolts, that's bizarre.

Correct, the secondary o2 should be AFTER the cat as it's purpose is to make sure the cat is functioning properly.

I live in NY and they are starting the emmissions law with inspections I believe next month, and I was just wondering if the OBD2 to OBD2 conv. would pass and also the O2 simulator would they pass? Im not sure how all the tests work and such....
