Question about motor swaps in CA
I live in SoCal and I would like to swap a 92-95 H22 into my 96 EK, what do I need to worry about with this swap? If I am able to find someone to look the other way when smogging, will I be ok?
Also I was looking at a 92-95 b16 they are both pretty cheap for the full swap (about $2000) which would be the better choice?

it wouldnt be CA smog legal and if you got caught that would be a cheap ticket. but yeah try finding someone whos willing to do an illegal smog and if they would do it, im guessing it would be cheap

Re: Question about motor swaps in CA
The only reason I want to go H22 is because it's half the price of a GSR with much more power. I dont care if I can't have PS or A/C because I already dont have either =P

Re: Question about motor swaps in CA
What are all the downsides of an H22 swap? I already know of a few
-weight
-room, cant have A/C + PS
-makes car handle worse
-h22 tranny sucks
what else?

Re: Question about motor swaps in CA
Wait a second... H motors said the swap is 92-95.
BUT
jspecauto says it's 92-96 wtf?
link - http://www.jspecauto.com/catalog_pro...spx?prod_id=14
So then if I get a 96 H22 I should be ok with smog?
