Default Question about motor swaps in CA

I live in SoCal and I would like to swap a 92-95 H22 into my 96 EK, what do I need to worry about with this swap? If I am able to find someone to look the other way when smogging, will I be ok?

Also I was looking at a 92-95 b16 they are both pretty cheap for the full swap (about $2000) which would be the better choice?

well if you have a 96, you can use motors from a 92-95. has to be the same year as your car or newer

that swap isn't considered legal in CA, at least not to a REF station... just get a swap that matches the obd of your car, and it'll make your headaches much lighter..

For what reason though? For smog? Im sure if I find someone who is willing to do an illegal smog they wont care what year the engine is.

I want to go OBD1 no matter what I go with.

The only reason I want to go H22 is because it's half the price of a GSR with much more power. I dont care if I can't have PS or A/C because I already dont have either =P

What are all the downsides of an H22 swap? I already know of a few

-weight
-room, cant have A/C + PS
-makes car handle worse
-h22 tranny sucks

what else?

Wait a second... H motors said the swap is 92-95.

BUT

jspecauto says it's 92-96 wtf?

link - http://www.jspecauto.com/catalog_pro...spx?prod_id=14

So then if I get a 96 H22 I should be ok with smog?
