Default Question on 92-95 Civic Hatch carbon fiber duckbill wing

These do not incorporate a third brake light, do they? Assuming they do not, does anyone have trouble with the cops because of this?

As far as I know, there's no law requiring 3rd brake lights...They do it for safety...And as a courtesy to other drivers.

I think there is a third brake light law...well pretty sure, at least.

I thought in Cali a 3rd brake light was required. If someone rear ends you and you don't have a 3rd brake light, I think you can be held responsible. This is what I heard, I have no idea if this is correct.

There is a law. After a certain year (maybe 80') all cars were required to have them. Have you ever seen a car without one? Manufacturers are required to include them. You won't pass inspection without one either.

So, no one has had problems with the cops? And I was assuming they didn't.....but do the duckbills in fact lack the 3rd light??

As far as I know there is a law...that's why they put 3rd brake lights in cars...but when i put my cf buckbill on i got a secret weapon!!!
I "received" a third brake light from an Olds Bravada and it is LED and i will install it in the inside upside down by the back window to incorporate the third brake light since the cf wing wont have one...I dont know how this will look but if it looks ghey then ill take it off!

in PA your required to have a 3rd brake light. i have a c/f duckbill and no 3rd brake light but when i got pulled over for tint, the cop didn't say anything. the cops really don't pay that close attention to it. i follow cars all the time with only one working tailight. i wouldn't worry about it too much.

I haventy seen a CF duckbill that incorporates the 3rd braske light,
its probably because its a race mod really.
but yah they look purdy.
if you are thinking you might get a ticket, well it will be easy enough to wire one in, just use a light from anothewr car or from a junkyard. the wiring is still in the hatch so its an easy install.

Never had a problem the 2 years I've had mine on (even with cops behind me), but then I did this to my car.....

I swapped out the sockets on the tailgate to dual-filament sockets, and used 1157 bulbs. Now it looks just like a coupe when I press on the brakes.... all 4 taillights light up. I did that for my own protection so no dipshits rear end me (even though it that didn't help twice already).
