just because honda transmissions are hard to come by (DOHC). i am overly cautious, i change mine every 6 months. i don't mind paying $16 a year to make sure everything is well lubricated and in tip top order.

x10, for how cheap it is, it doesn't hurt to do it 2x a year or at least once a year.

Especially if you beat on it like I do with my sohc.

Go to the dealer and ask for the new formula MTF.

It's supposed to be friction modified, and as far as I can tell it's better than the old stuff. Minimally, but I could tell.

Just recently drained/filled mine and I think it took about 3.5 quarts. Easy way to tell is to take out the fill bolt the one, little to the top left of the drain bolt and fill it till it leaks. But yeah it's like 3.5 quarts. I had just regular 10w30 in it before and it works the same.
But I asked the guy at Honda and he said supposedly Honda MTF has some sort of chemical in it that dosn't break down as easy as regular oil. I've have heard good things about GM synchromesh, though. Anyone have experience with this stuff?

EM1 tranny btw

If ever in doubt, just replace the fluid. Go to Honda and buy the real stuff. Not only will you be buying the real stuff from Honda, they can also answer your question as to how much you need Change it change it change it. It won't hurt and can only help.
