Problems with overheating 92 eg Hb DX
I changed the theromsant today because the last two weeks it started to overheat, so i take it for a test drive and when i come to a red light it starts to overheat so i turn the heat on and it finally goes down when i get home i look under the car and there's no leaks, pop the hood to see if anything else is leaking but nothing. What else could it be i wouldn't think it would be the water pump becuase its not leaking or it wouldn't be a sensor because there's no check engine light

make sure there are no binds in the coolant lines. Sometimes if the flow of the coolant can be restricted causeing it to overheat. Also take off the hoses and make sure there is no corrotion or what not stuck in the lines.

how to bleed your coolant.
let the car become cool.
take off the radiator cap
start the car.
let the car run for 10-20 mins without the cap on and watch all the bubbles.
once the car has reached operating temperature put more coolant in and let it run for another 5 mins. add coolant if bubles still appear
when there are no more bubbles put the cap back on and turn the car off.
let the car become cool.

i did that i let it run until it warmed up and added coolant, i was thinking it might be one of the hoses that has a small crack in them but there all fine, if it is the headgasket i'm not spending any money on the pos motor. I'm saving for a h22

if your head gasket is shot, you'll be getting white smoke out of your exhaust.
is there any smoke?
and is your fan turnong on, by the way?
anyway, i agree just bleed your coolant system- i bet that's all it is. and hopefully too, because it saves you the trouble of doing a new headgasket.

yea the fan turns on,its been blowing white smoke since i've owned the car it blows it when i take off but its been doing that for 4 months now

does the smoke smell sweet? Chances are it's the headgasket...you're describing the same thing my motor is doing (d15b7) and it ended up being the head gasket after i changed my thermo and bleed my coolant.

btw...what does ur oil look like? Remember head gaskets can blow internally and externally so even though your oil looks okay, you still could have a leak internally.

yeah, well it was probably a minor head gasket leak over the past four months, and was enough to puff out white smoke but ..and i'm not trying to sound like a jerk.. you've obviously ignored the white smoke for 4 months and now you've got white smoke AND driveability problems and harmful engine operation.
suggest replacing head gasket.

and thats why i have a y7 sitting in my driveway...
But im still running the b7 to the ground...shes stubborn! Just watch ur coolant level...if it goes down after a few days, it's your headgasket.
