Default Problem with Interior Door Lock

All of a sudden, I can't lock the door from the inside anymore. I've done it about 3 or 4 times today, and I go out to lock my doors, and it's won't lock. I usually just hold the door handle open and lock it. Anyone else had this problem?

I'm having this exact same problem. I have a 2000 base model civic hatchback. The driver side door will not lock at all anymore. The interior locking mechanism won't even move. I'm going to try taking the door apart to see if I can figure it out. It like its siezed or jammed on something.

well if i know what you guys are talking about then this will probably work. what you have to do is open up your door panel and look at the unlock/lock metel piece and see if it moves near where the door closes if it doesnt thats your problem.

Both my interior door locks have broken...on both of my civics!!! This is a weak point and a design flaw...now I have to lock/unlock doors from the outside. I am going to replace the lock switch/interior door handles, but damn, they are weak.

ok, now that you know you can lock the from the inside do you still do it? I would think not.

anyway, I got in my car this morning, and went to get out and I can't let my self out from the inside either (kind of freaked me out). WTF!

Once I got the panelling off it was smooth sailing. It was just seized up. A little spray of WD-40 and we're good to go.

The safety feature is that you can't lock your keys in your car if you can't lock the doors from the inside. Cool but all you have to do is hold the door handle up or pull the door handle up and immediately lock the door upon release, works like a charm. I was a little unclear if that is what you meant or if you meant you were doing that and the door still wouldn't lock. If that is the case then you should take the door panel off and see if the safety mechanism to prevent the locking of your keys inside is not disengaging properly. Good luck

I thought it was normal for Hondas to not allow you to lock the DRIVER door from the inside...I was guessing it was made like that just in case you lock your keys in. Mine won't lock even if the door is open. It has to be closed and I have to lock it with my key. My 1997 Honda Accord EX was like this also when I bought it from the dealer. Hrmmm...

What are you talking about? Do you have a problem with me trying to get people to stop whoring every thread just to increase their post count?

Mind your own business, that post was not directed at you. However if you feel the need to be Mr. Internet tough guy then feel free to get the last word in and bump your meaningless post count up one more.

My thoughts exactly. Do you have anything useful to say, other that being a *******?
