Default Problem with acceleration

Hey I have a 5 spd 93 honda civic 1.5 fuel injected. When starting the car up, everything is fine.. but when I step on the accelerator and rev the engine it sounds like its being choked out and the service engine light comes on. I checked for codes; there are none present. any ideas?

thanks

Check your TPS sensor. It could also be cat/fuel related, but try the tps first.

the tps should be on the back of the throttle body, between the throttle body and the fire wall

tps would usually throw a code, i'm betting its a clogged cat.

If the subtrate broke inside the cat it will make your engine wanna die if you ry to accelerate. Do this jack up your car with the engine cooled off. And get to the cat. Hit the cat with your fist and see if you hear a noise that sounds like rocks. If it does then there you go.

so he's getting a cel, but it's not throwing any codes?

bump for a clogged cat or TPS throwing a code.
