Primary O2 Sensor on a 95 EX stuck on, what mm is the sensor?
I'm out working on my brother's 95 civic ex, and I can't get the damn O2 Sensor off, and I don't have that many tools so I'm going to run to the store to get something with a thinner profile.
What MM is that O2 sensor/bolt at ?
and any advice on how to get the damn thing off, once the heatshield came off i didn't know it would be in such a pita position. I'm using alot of PB blaster, and, nothing
any quick help appreciated guys
Edit ok NvM i got it, 22mm, now i just got to figure out the best and cheapest tool to get it off with

there is a tool made for the 02 sensor, probably have it wherever your going. has a little cutout to get through the wires and still use the closed end. o2 sensors have always been a bitch for me to get off too. make sure you try to take it off when the engine is cold, metal expands with heat... then you can use a breaker if needed

This tool is a great investment for any tool set. They really work well. I bought one when we were swapping the B18B into my friend's 92 cx hatch. Use a good wire brush to clean some of the rust off before... then flash heat it with a torch (don't go near the wires) then use a breaker bar... it'll come off.

Primary? There should only be one on there, but anyway, are you trying to take off the O2 sensor with your heatshield still on the exhaust manifold? I could have been one of the lucky few but, I didn't have any problems taking it off or putting my O2 sensor on.
How is he going to use a breaker bar on it? I used my wrench and slowly tapped upwards until I could unscrew it by hand.
Edit: re-read, the heatshield is off

i don't remember the placement of the sensor on the fifth gen civic maybe it's harder to get to than on my 00 civic... i used a breaker on mine because it was stubborn as hell.

Sorry man, I had the exhaust manifold off the car... it still gave me a hard time. That's when I got the idea to buy the O2 socket.

thnx guys. After two trips to sears, one trip to kragen, then a trip to pep boys, and throwing about 115miles on my odo, the bolt's still stuck on there.
We tryed two different O2 Sockets, (one was too thick) and a breaker bar and a shitload of PB blaster, and now the second O2 socket itself is stripped, and the O2 bolt is starting to go as well. sucks, time to go hit up a mechanic and the beauty of air tools

Correct, 22mm is it. They are very hard to get out, the open ended wrench will just slip and damage the flats, and the closed end can't fit over the plug. If you are replacing a bad sensor just clip the wires down by the sensor and then use a closed end wrench. You could also use vise-grips and a hammer.

I used an open ended wrench a hammer and a lot of patience. I stood on the manifold while another guy slowly tapped the wrench with the hammer.

I just replaced the primary (the one on the exhaust manifold, not the one on the cat) and I bought the offset o2 socket from PepBoys. I did mine when it was still fairly hot...took almost no effort to remove it. The new one came with some anti-seize compound on the threads.
