With the work being done for you including finding the parts, and a year ago maybe. It's closer to 8-10 thousand now.

a complete swap can be from 3 grand for a k20a2 to 5600 for a jdm k20a. but to get it running can cost you between 7 to 10 grand depending on if your doing it yourself or having a shop doing the install for you and also what parts youll be using. to save yourself some money, you could use a jdm itr ecu instead of getting kpro, use a dc swap header instead of getting a custom one like a dtr or rcrew header, and making your own oem axle combination. that right there can save you around $2500 and could make the swap possible for around 6 grand, but you wouldnt be getting the full potential out of the engine.

Compared to what?
That's about how much it costs these days for an eg/ek/dc. The engine is much more plentiful now so the cost is going down, as is the price for the aftermarket parts to get it running, and it is much easier to do with all the aftermarket parts available.
