Suspension issues

some questions
my buddy put my suspension back in my car the other day and forgot to tell me he lost the lower ball joint nut, anyways he just used another nut and cross thread it, today i hit a bump and bam!, didnt it come loose and pop out of the spindle snapping my axle.......now my cars sitting in a mall parking lot my questions are can i just re thread the ball joint and put a new nut on it for a temp fix to get it home? and also i need both axles in the car for it to move right? like i couldnt just fix the ball joint and drive it home with the axle out? and when removing the axle can i not get it out without remoiving the suspension fork?

the susp, fork has to come off to get the axle out, also your friend is an *******. your probably going to need to get a new ball joint, good luck man
