Default power steering

this question is for a friend.

he drives an 99 or 00 sir i dont remeber the year.but he wants to take out the powersteering. he called honda and checked with them on what needed to be done. they told him you have to change the whole tranny if you take out the power steering.and another mechanic told him he has to change the whole steering column.. he never told me the reason but that doesnt sound right to me so i decided to check it out for him. so if anyone know if its true post up.

Doesnt surprise me that honda didnt tell him the right answer...but tranny? Thats just stupid.

All he has to do is loop the lines that are on the rack, and remove the pump. User Padawan, here, sells a great complete kit for doing just this.
