Is it possible to use various discs with the ACT heavy duty press. plate?
I recently got a ACT heavy duty pressure plate with a 4 puck unsprung disc. IMO, this clutch is too much for my driving needs, Id like something a bit lighter but still sturdier than stock. Does anyone know if I can use other ACT discs with this plate and which ones? Which one is mild and would you reccomend for a daily driven GSR?
Thanks

o **** i just realized i didnt even read your post! just the topic! haha sorry. yes the organic street disc is probly your best bet. i totally agree, in fact i have an extreme ATC pressure plate with the organic disc in my car. its super easy to drive and last way longer, but it doesnt grab as good as 6 or 4 puck.

Yes, you can use any disc. I'm using the ACT heavy duty pressure plate with a Clutchnet Kevlar disc. It works very well, and I recommend you look into that if you're looking into something that will last and easy on the street.
I have a used ACT street disc for sale if you want it.

If the peddle feel is to much, your going to have to swap pressure plates too.
Otherwise if it just grabs to much, get a dirrent disk

If I may, and this is sort of on topic too, can you use a used ACT pp with a new disk if say the PP is cleaned up and the face is in good shape?

If you want a mild disc, check out ACT's organic street discs. I'm using one with an ACT HD pressure plate, and it's great. It can hold up to 223lb-ft of torque on my Civic but still absolutely streetable. Won't get your leg sore but can hold plenty of power. I used it while turbocharged on 5-10 psi and still use it even though I'm back to basically stock. I use it daily and used it during rush hour traffic without a problem. With over 12000 miles on it, it's grabbing as strong as ever.

Yes you can reuse the PP. I have done this for several people. Just keep in mind, if you use a higher performance PP and a lower performance disc, the disc could wear out faster, b/c it was not designed to handle that PP.

Thanks for the replies guys. This Heavy duty plate looks nice, its bullet proof looking lol. Its not that this 4 puck unsprung disc is STIFF, it just grabs way to soon...its either in or out, there is no in between, no fun driving up hills (not that I have much in Florida).

i use the ACT EXTRM PP and street disk. holds power well, no slips so far, but is a PAIN on the leg. its heavy, real heavy. smooth engagement too.
