Default Possible problems with my sister's '00 EK Si (SOHC VTEC)

Today I changed the oil on my sister's 2000 EK Civic Si (CDN), SOHC VTEC.

I don't know how long she drove it after her last oil change, but she said about 9,000 Km's. I always run it with a synthetic oil, and that's about 1K too much.

Anyway. Now I hear a little sort of cliking noise, (sounds kind of like a faint tractor noise), coming from the motor. I'm not sure if I'm halucinating, just because I didn't change the oil on time, or if this is normal?

What does a healthy SOHC VTEC motor sound like when it idling? Do any of you other guys hear that faint noise when you pop the hood? Is this normal?

Somebody give me a hand here, because it's pissing me off.

Yep I agree, either time for a valve adjustment, or if it's manual and you were brutal to the clutch it may also be the throw-out bearings, they both make similar sounds.

Is the clicking noise becomes more noticeable while on idle ? Try to bleep the throttle a little bit and if the clicking noise dissapears you just need a valve adjustment. If not then check the t.o bearing like Mr.Shin said.

The clicking noise is only present when idling...

How much will a valve adjustment run me? I'll just stroll down to the Honda stealership, since the car is still under warranty.

Ok. Well clicking noise disappeared today, but boy that is a noisy engine. Not really noisy, but noisier than my mom's Corolla...

I checked with two of my buddies today with the same engines, and theirs make that much noise too.
