Positive battery terminal keeps building corrosion
96 Civic EX
Positive battery terminal keeps building corrosion. I just cleaned it a few weeks back, I never had it build corrosion so fast again. I am wondering if condensation is build under the hood?
Has anyone tried anti corrosion sprays, do they work?

Strange never happened until late last year, battery looks ok the terminals clean up good, it is like a white powder corrosion, I might have to try anti corrosive spray.

I use a spray myself, it sprays out a red gunk that covers the battery terminal. It says you can just spray it on, will clean out the corrosion that is there and then protect. I dont know, Mine doesnt corrode, my old mans builds a little ant hill every couple weeks though. We sprayed his, stopped it. I usually hit it with the spray during every oil change. Works great.
My battery is interstate--- no corrosion. (Bout 2 months old)
My old mans is a Napa gold (or whatever their best is) and its nothing but corrosion. His is a good 3+ years old though.

Re: Positive battery terminal keeps building corrosion
Check the cables, mine had corrosion on the terminal end and into the cable. i cut off the corroded part of the cable and put on a new brass terminal end and never had a problem since.

Re: Positive battery terminal keeps building corrosion
Sounds like your battery's being overcharged. But I don't know exactly what to do about an over charging condition. I just know when a battery over charges, it discharges acid.
I suggest doing a full battery and charging system test. Voltmeter to a battery with car off (12.5v - 12.8v), and when the car's on (14.7ish). Once car's on, rev to 3000rpm-4000rpm and check voltage.
(correct me if I am wrong about the voltages please, not too sure about the car on voltage. I don't have my car right now)
If all is fine, battery just may have faulty seals around terminals.
