Performance chip
Hi guys. Im new here...just joined. I have a question.......I have a 97' honda civic cx hatchback. I currently have a 'vibrant' cold air intake.....and a fully aftermarket exhaust system. Anyways, my next thing that I want to put into my civic is a performance chip. My buddy who is a mechanic said that it is a relatively cheap item to put in and it 'could' give some boost in horsepower, tourque and speed. Has anyone had any experience with these 'performance' chips. Or are they not worth money. Please state if you noticed any difference in performance, how much it cost you and what company/make it was. thanks

Re: Performance chip (jerrry)
You will need to convert to OBDI in order to use a "performance chip."
OBDIIb---->OBDI jumper = aprox. $110
OBDI non-VTEC ECU = $50-$75
Chipping OBDI ECU = $75-$100
In my experince "Ebay/performance chips" are not worth the hassle unless the car has serious mods. And if the car has serious mods, I would reccomend getting it tuned properly as opposed to just chipping it with some program some one thinks works for everything.

dont buy a chip off ebay...i had a ebay skunk2 chip and it worked fine...but once i added my skunk2 stg 1 cams...it idled and drove like i had a stage 3 cam with low compression...i couldnt figure it out...once i hit vtec it would slow down...and would pull hard at all...i finally took it to my tuner and he swapped out my chip with one of his that he made for another customer and it pounded hardcore...this guys chips are good...www.kenji211.net
