Default Passport 8500 does anyone think its a okay radar detector?

My brother bought a Aurora (oldsmobile) it was a repo and it had this in the glove compartment and he gave it to me. Does anyone like it. Its the base one not the X type. Sorry to ask here I just did not know where exactly to ask so maybe the civic forum could help me.

I just bought the passport 7500s cause i got it for really cheap. I had to call escort to get the chord and i asked the lady what the diff. was between the x50 , 8500, 7500. Obviously she said range but the only big diff. was that the x50 has the pop feature which is just a new gun that cops have which can check your speed before your detector even notices. BUT, she said that there are only 400 in the U.S. and she has the x50 and has never come across one. Also the x50 can be upgraded if new bands come out. The moral is every radar has false alarms, and the more expensive ones have more features and farther range. My 7500s works great and i wouldn't spend $300 on a radar detector

Thats not completely accurate, and you can find a lot of info on POP, and the escort and the V1 in general all over the net. I have had both and I gave the escort away cause the V1 was so much better. Its a damn good radar detector to get for free though you should be happy

yes, the passport 8500 is the second best radar detector you can get. I have the x50...and the only difference between the x50 and the non x50 is that the x50 has the pop feature (which is just ******* annoying) and longer range. I've tested this with my friends non x-50. If it didn't come with the cord...go buy one off of passports site and you've got yourself a free $500 radar detector!
