Default Passing MD Emissions

My boy has a 98 k20 swapped civic coupe and just got an emissions notice. Anyone have an idea on what he needs to do to pass?

in my city, the smog testing requires an OBD2 plug in (on the '98+ cars). my friend is worried about this as well and might just swap back in the stock motor. (works for a shop).

unfortunately, if smog testers can't get an OBD plug in reading, or if there's a CEL, they'll fail you here. good luck bro.

does he have a cat? good exhaust? wiring hooked up right? it may pass just fine the way it is. if youre near belair he can slam it and take it there, they dont like to deal with low cars. but since its obd2 i dont think thatll work cause they check emissions differently...i think

you can actually get 2 extensions without providing any kind of excuse. but hes still gonna have to get it done anyway so unless hes got work left to do to make it pass this isnt really gonna help him.

can he plug in any OBD2 code reader (you can get one for under $50), and access the ECU to read codes, does he have a CEL, are all the I/M moniters set to "READY"??

I think you can if it retains these traits:

This is how I did It. I live in Montgomery Co. and I had postponed and just skipped out and I eventually had to pay $140 because I was late. I got my $140 minus the $14 fee back after I wrote a letter to the MVA explainging why I wasn't able to get emissions done.

A friend of mine gave me a receipt that said over $400 worth of work done to the vehicle. and they automatically passed me. He worked a shop and that how I got the receipt.

I did it at the emission station off of RT 29.

If you fail and then present this receipt they will pass you and you will be straight no questions asked, till 3 or 4 years when you have to have it done again.

So make a friend at a Mechanic Shop who can write you a receipt if you don't already have one and you won't have this problem.

BTW I had a B16 with a test pipe and APEXi WS Exhaust
So you know I was no where near passing......

Yeah... They have to see you have spent over $400 on emission related repairs.

Say you had your Cat and o2 sensor replaced along with a tune up.

Thats what was listed on my receipt.
