Default Passenger Side Mirror 92-95

After searching for a bit I can't seem to locate any information as to how to replace my passenger side mirror for my EG. To make things easier for myself I have pulled the mirror assembly and brought it inside to look at it under good lighting. I have the replacement mirror and all but I'm not sure how to extract the existing broken mirror that's currently in the housing. I can look behind the broken mirror and there are some screws but there's no way to actually unscrew them (or pull the locking washer) so I assume there's an alternate method to get the mirror out. Does the plastic housing pull apart somehow? How do I get that broken mirror out of there? Thanks for your help guys.

I already pulled the whole thing and have the complete assembly on my table. I need to extract the broken mirror from it.

My apologies for not being more clear. The entire assembly has been pulled from the car. If you were to look at my car right now you would see that it has no passenger mirror. All you would see are the factory holes where the mirror assembly would bolt to the door. The picture below shows exactly what's sitting on my table. With that in mind, flip the housing around 180 degrees so you would be looking at the mirror.

Here's my problem - the mirror. It's shattered but still mounted inside of the housing. I need to pull the broken mirror out of the assembly/housing and then mount my new mirror. How do I get the broken mirror out?

To be exact there's four ball and socket joints. The main joint is in the center of the mirror but it's held into place by a metal washer that slips over the joint. The washer has one hell of a grip. I've tried prying but there's too much resistance and the housing is about the crack.

As for a solution to you problem I have no input. srry. It sounds to me like it would just be more concnient to replace the whole assembly. Just my $.02

wrap a cloth around a screwdriver,
insert the screwdriver between the glass and mirror housing,
pop the mirror from left to right until the shattered mirror is completely off.

reading is a must
