Re: How Do you change Side Mirror? (96dxpower)
um do you have tweeters in your car,on the door? Should be by the mirrors on the inside, cuz if you do take them out and then unscrew the bolts to the mirror and vowaalla. Your mirror is off

You have to pop off the door panel in that top corner. Atleast I had to on my EK. But dont pull it too far or else it will slide off a metal ridge and its a bitch to get back on
Unpop the top of it just far enough that you can yank that plastic piece off

Re: How Do you change Side Mirror? (bzyrice)
Im assuming its the 98 hatch from your sig?
Basicly you have to remove the door panel so you can get the little panel that has the tweeter if equiped or the blank panel off, once that is gone there are three (3) nuts that need to be removed and the wiring needs to be disconected (Power Only). There you go its off.
Some asked about a plastic panel? If they were anything like mine you take it apart from the side mounted to the car out words basicly, you should see three (3) phillips screws those need to come out and then so on untill you get the rest out. The actuall mirrored surface itself is held in with tabs and can be removed by snapping it off its holder from the bottem. It pivots on the top side and locks on the bottem.

Are they stock EK mirrors? I remember taking mine apart to paint them, but I don't remember exactly how I got the glass out. I'll take a look at the helms tonight and get back with you.

I did this, and it can be a little tricky to get the glass back on. You have to use alot (more than you'd expect) of evenly distributed pressure on it.
I actually have genuine OEM glass still in the package for the drivers side (ordered the wrong side) if you need it.

bzyrice... did you have any luck in what you were trying to do with your mirror? and did you have to reconnect any power mirror controls?
I ask because I've been wanting to pop off my passenger side mirror on my prelude (just the mirror, not the housing) because one of the power mirror controls is disconnected (adjust left works, adjust right doesn't). seems like the previous owner bumped it into something and it came loose.
Thanks for any help

yah i was able to change the mirror just by looking at the diagram.. if the prelude is anything like the civic the first thing I would check before taking off the mirror is the plug that goes into the mirror.. you can access the plug from inside the car my removing the piece inside. If that plug seems ok, I guess you could take the mirror off.. what made it easier to take the mirror offwas a flashlight.. I moved the mirror as far forward as I could and shined the flash light back there so I could see the 2 clips holding the mirror.. then i took the 2 paper clips off (not completely off but enough so the mirror could come off) .. Then the only thing really holding the mirror is this ball joint in the center of the mirror. U have to use a little bit of force to pull the mirror off.. when I did this I actually broke the mirror more.. But i wasnt being that careful because it was already messed up.. good luck man.. I would go to a junkyard and get an extra mirror just in case
