no...its a 0bd2 p73 type r ecu, and i cant get my car inspected because the obd port is not responding...is there a wire diagram i could use, or is this a common problem?

im not sure... i just bought the car, and cant get it inspected. the ecu number on the side is 37820 p73 003... Also i txtd the guy i bought it from an he told me its a obd2b ecu. The harness in the car wouldnt fit a si b16 ecu because i tried doing that last night, one of the harness plugs has been changed.

I'm kinda skeptical about the ITR ECU being OBD2B. You'd need a jumper harness to hook that one up, as well. In addition, OBD2B ecus have immobilizer chips installed which would prevent your car from starting unless you modified your ignition and have the correct key.

After doing a little bit of research with Google, I think your ECU is a JDM OBD2A ITR ecu. That's why it's not reading through the OBD data port. Since you have the Si ECU, I'd get a OBD2A-to-OBD2B jumper harness and hook that up. That will allow your OBD data port to read the USDM Si ecu and therefore, pass inspection.

First off...i really wanna thank you guys for all your help...okay now tats done... is the p73 type r ecu i have a obd2a? And the final answer im guessing it that my obd port is not responding because i have a jdm ecu. Correct? So once i just connect the si ecu with the jumper harness, the obd port should work correct. I plan on getting a p28 but need a obd2 to pass inspection. Im going to borrow the si ecu just to pass the inspection.

Yes, it sounds like the P73 ITR ECU you have is OBD2A. If you didn't need a jumper harness to hook it up, then it is definitely OBD2A. And yes, the OBD port is not responding because it's a JDM ECU. JDM ECUs don't have the same software as their USDM counterparts which is why it doesn't work. Yes, once you hook up the Si ECU with a jumper harness, the OBD port will work and allow you to pass inspection.
thats what i tried to do with the si ecu, i borrowed it from a friend. but it didnt plug in...and now i know why...ill try and see if anyone has another ecu thats usdm and is obd2a, dont really want to spend $150 for a jumper harnerss only for one time use.

have you check to see if any of you friends have a obd2a to obd2b jumper?
yea i wouldnt want to either lol but you may have no choice, the cheepest one i have seen was 100 shipped.

Even with a jumper harness you wont pass VISUAL inspection.
Jumpers are for off-road use. So unless you tuck it away really good theyll give you crap for it.
A good trick i learned with jumpers (since your ecu wont mount in stock location anymore) is to get some floor mats to hide it. Stock honda mats n you cant even tell.
Or just get an obd2a usdm type r ecu
Sorry if all these seem to involve moneys

just get the harness jumper for the si ecu, they cant take your car apart. just make sure its under the carpet/behind panels.
if this is the ca inspections, you need to pass visual, smog, and functions(?).
visual is to see if all your parts are carb'd/stock. They cannot force a ecu cel via removing parts/plugs.
smog regular smog check. cannot check your ecu other than the obd port
functions(?), i think they check for smoke/airbags/everything to be stock in working order.
