Default p28 idleing funny?

I just installed a p28 with a lightning motorsports obd2 to obd1 conversion harness and when i went to start it up it started up just fine but it idles funny.

Every couple of seconds after i first start it it idles just around 800-750 but then it would suddenly drop to 300-250 rpm like it wants to shut off after i drive it around it stops doing this however.

My car is a 97 ex and p28 looks like it has a manufactured date of 92. Its completely stock, unchiped ( i think, i never opened it yet).

any ideas?

I have experienced kind of the opposite...

When I start the car cold, my idle jumbs around 1500-2000 rpm. It jumps about 9 times then levels off. Not sure why, but its a minor item that I have gotten used to.
