p28 in 96 civic
Putting a chipped p28 ECU in my OBD2 civic. got the conversion harness and all that. running a turbo on my d16y8. anyone have this ECU in their OBD2? if so any before hand tips would be appreciated. Did you have to change your timing at all? any help before i hook this thing up would be great

Right now youll run a basemap. If you want your timing/fuel maps changed you need to see a dyno and a tuner. Do not do this yourself with out a Wideband and EGT gauge. You will probably blow up your motor

EGT gauge? guess you'll have to explain that one to me. problem with the dyno thing is i live in central WV and we don't have **** for cars. no shops in the state. i disconnected my battery cable for 15 minutes after i put it in. i was told to do this cause obviously that'll reset the syste,. i was also told i may have to adjust my timing a bit, but other than that its pretty straightfoward. is this a simple DIY garage job did i get a load of BS?

my friend had a p28 on his ex but it wasnt turbo it was plug and paly with conversion harness..
you can clear the code by pullingout a fuse not sure if its 15 or 10 but it say for radio

Pulling the "radio" fuse (actually its the backup fuse and its the number 15 in the fuse box under the hood) resets the system like you would disconnect the batt. EGT is exhaust gas tempature sensor. If you know how to read it correctly then it could show you when your sparking and if your ok or not.

You wont be nearly SOL as your motor could be if you start playing with the chip and not know what your doing. Theres alot of info about tuning you could research and understand how everything works. Just wait til Joe writes back or just PM him.

Re: (Luserkid)
i've been reading and researching different aspects of the tuning process. what mods help, which ones don't help. especially for dyno testing what mods most shops require you to have on FI vehicles. theres definately ALOT to it and i'm willing to learn, i'm just new to the whole process b/c theres not much (or many people) around here that understand all this and can explain it to me. the whole turbo was a DIY in my garage and runs pretty well but i know theres alot of room for extra gains. all i've heard is dyno dyno dyno. i know it needs done its just hard to in my area. thanks for all your help man, i'll try to contact this guy and see what he can do for me. thanks again
