Default p08-1? what head?

My buddy bought a vtec head to put on his y7 block he thought it was a z6 but its stamped p08-1 so I thought it was a jdm d15. However there is no 9/1 marking there is a 9/5 one tho. Any ideas what head this could be?

Also it ran for a few days now it won't start even with a new coil in the dizzy? There's no spark could it just be a bad distributor?

Could be from a D16Z6, JDM D15B Vtec or JDM SOHC Vtec ZC, they're all stamped P08.

if it ran for a few days and now has no spark...it could b a wiring problem since you put a new coil in the dizzy but it could just b a bad coil, try another dizzy from another car and see if it runs, if not then its a wiring problem

jdm d15b vtec, usdm d16z6, usdm d16y8 heads are all stamped p08

I was getting no spark so i put a new coil in, even with the new coil still not getting spark. Im assuming it needs a new dizzy since the y7 doesn't fit to whatever head is on the car but im not understanding how it ran with the y7 dizzy in the first place..

sohc non-vtec dizzy can work on sohc vtec head, i know b/c i have used a 0bd1 dx dizzy on my 0bd1 d16z6...so find out if that head is obd1 or 0bd2...since y7 dizzy doesnt fit, try using an obd1 sohc dizzy and go from there

They sort of work, you can get 1 bolt in if I remember correctly, or you can hack the case up and get 2 bolts in. There are 3 different D-series bolt patterns for distributors:

OBD1 non vtec and all OBD2 SOHC D-series engines
OBD1 Vtec/Vtec-e D-series
OBD1 DOHC ZC

Yeah you get one bolt in that's about it and u still have to modify it a little bit to get that one bolt in. Im gunan try the z6 diz and go from there hopefully thats the problem. Its deff an obd1 head though i know that much.
