owned by distributor, NEED OPINIONS!!!
so here's the deal: i have a stock black 94 ex coupe with 130,000 miles on original engine... to get it running again it needs, headgasket, distrubutor, axel, and tie rod, i'm looking at about 1200$ b/c i had to get it towed to a shop yesterday after it died on me.
so i can eat-it and get it fixed, or get a swap... i want to spend about 1500$ at most b/c i will not be keeping this car, ill basically fix it and then sell it... the way i look at it is the car will only be worth about 3k if i get it fixed, but if a swap and repaint it will be worth more athan it cost me to swap and repaint.
so what engine, b18b, or 16a... again i am not concerned about the fastest or doing aftermarket work to it, which one looks more promising when i go to sell the car, and where should i get it from, i was thinking IAS but i hear thay are expensive. thank you

I think the B16a will get you more "stupid ignorant kid" votes BECAUSE you say V-tech (yes I know I spelled it wrong) and they will be forking out some cash. However you could probably find the B18a for cheaper and say "ready for turbo!" and that might help ya out too. If it were me though I'd throw the B16a in there and drive the **** out of it before I sold it... have some fun!
Scott
Edit: didn't see the B18c option... I choose you pikachu!

If you are positive you are not going to keep the car, then just swap in a B16. They are fairly quick in EG chassis, they are the cheapest OBD1+ B-series VTEC motor, and that will definately raise your resale value of the car (if sold to the right person)

Get the old old one, with the cable tranny, they used to be not more than $1,000 But I don't know now. Sure it's not as powerful as the 170 hp one but hey, you are selling it anyways.
BTW: you don't want my hatch... it's ugly and slow... no swap

Here's a good list of B16's from Hmotorsonline: http://www.hmotorsonline.com/s...gines
I don't think you'd have reliability issues with your older motor BUT you won't be legal... I just remembered that. You have to swap either the same year or newer motor into your car. The motor I was first talkinga bout is 30001 on that page.
And here is a good checklist for things you will need: http://www.hasport.com/Tech/In...s.htm
Edit: I would expect equal or lower prices for your motor as you see at hmotorsonline.
