Opinon on engine startup after theft
Hey everybody. if you can't remember my situation I'll go over it briefly. My car was stolen a few weeks ago and I recently bought it back.
I am getting ready to start it for the first time today or tomorrow so I wanted to know what meassures I should take befor I start it.
here is the conditon it was in....the valve cover was off and so was the hood. I drained like 3 quarts of water from the oil pan. The spark plugs don't have any corrosion on them. I cleaned out the valve train with 2+2 and an air hose. I then ran standared oil through it to push any more water or debry out. so is their anything else I should do to ensure no damage will occure when I start it uo?
Also I need to hook up the plugs to the right distributor position so does anybody have a diagrham of this. thanks.

Re: Opinon on engine startup after theft (DOHCarp)
Get yourself a few quarts of cheap oil and prime the engine before you try to start it. Also pour a little oil into the cylinders (a couple teaspoons) and prime. Do not try to start it right away. If you have access to an oil pressure gauge you can use that while you are priming the engine just to keep an eye on the oil pressure.
After you prime the engine you will want to drain the oil and inspect it! If it looks good refill with new oil agian and then try to start!!
Also change the filter after priming!
Hope this helps and good luck!!

Attempt to turn the crank with the spark plugs out......do not use the starter....get a 17mm wrench and turn that sucker with your hands it should be fairly easy and very smooth......if it doesn't turn, don't use the starter.......do this after following priming steps above.
