I've searched on this forum, as well as clubsi, and on yahoo to find out information on this car.... So I know i'm going to ask a REALLY simple question, but at least I TRIED. but thx in advance lol

Okay, I sold my eclipse gsx because I'm only 17 and I don't have enough money to pay for gas, and all its problems, not to menchion, it was an auto, so that was no fun at all...

Today, I stumbled upon (I think it was a 97 or 98) black Honda Civic in a used car parkinglot... well, thinking it was any old civic i continued driving but at the last second, i noticed a "DOHC V-TEC" sticker on the sideskirt. Well, lol, i stopped, and I looked it over.... It was a Honda Civic SI DOHC VTEC with 60K miles.... (stick, yay)

Can anyone PLEASE tell me any general info on this car, as far as opinions, engine type (dohc...b16a? i dunno), HP, reliability, and anything else useful.... Also, do you think the price is right? the dealer wants 9500 for it... Thankyou in advance, any input would be of MAJOR help.

if it was an SI, it would be 99 or 2000.

some general info is, it weighs 2600 pounds and has 110 ftlbs of torque

personally, i wouldn't buy an SI. but some people like the looks and luxary of it. it wont be as fast as your auto GSX, but it will be more fun because its a stick.

okay.. its must be a 99 then because i popped the hood, and it was definitely a dohc vtec....... so what do you think about it? and what engine type is that...?

I know some people wouldn't buy and SI, but do you think it would meet my needs? I'm just a 17 year old that likes messing around with his car, I cant put thousands of dollars into it right now, and I don't really plan on making it like an 11 second car.... I just wanna be able to get from here to there in the day, and at night beat a couple people for fun... by the way, at this point i would take ANY car over my auto gsx.... i love dsms, but AUTO + turbo AWD = shat

well, it could be a 97-98 with an engine swap and DOHC VTEC stickers, that is pretty common.

and from what you just said, sure, an SI would be great for you.

It's can be a fun car to build on. Many people don't like the fact that the car is somewhat heavy, and the motor is a 1.6. But like you said, stick is more fun to drive, especially with Vtec That seems a bit low in price, at least around here, you may want to check the history on it. good luck

i would say go for it...those motors are really reliable and can get you from point a to b a lot faster than your average honda. That is a really good price also. CUrious: what color is it

9500 is a good price if it only has 60k on it and it looks like its in good condition.
Get a carfax to check it out to be safe.

I would go ahead and ask the dealer to run a carfax on it ( a good dealer will do this for free for you) and see if it has any history.

Second, get a decent alarm for it, you will be a prime theft target.

Third, that is not a bad price for it, just so you know, but like i said, check the history.

Other than that it will have a b16 engine in it (so you know the code already) 1.6l DOHC engine. I dunno the gas milage, but prolly somewhere in the 22-32mpg range is likely.

Also, insurance is going to love you, if you pay it, check with your agent first, it will probably be going up.

Actually, I haven't......

For a while I looked into conversion costs, and they can be about 2000 up..... ehh, the axles are different and whatnot.... Is that like a shiftkit? I dunno.... I like the car, and know a good amount about dsms (except the Syclone thing lol) but I just can't handle not driving a 5spd! Too boring! Not only that, the thing guzzles gas like no other mother!

I like my Si Doesn't take too much to make it faster than your old GSX... I'm invested under 2k in the engine and i've shaved a second off the stock 1/4 mile... basic bolt-ons + ctr cams = mild build.
