Default Oil troubles

Well, its official my honda burns oil. LOts of it too. I have a 95 civic dx with the stock engine. Its not leaking oil, head gasket is fine so im unsure what it is. I talked to 2 mechanics and they are telling me its an internal problem and would be to costly to repair, what are ur takes

find a good used engine. a dx goes for around $100 -200.

yup. it would probably be better/cheaper to replace the motor then to try to repair it...

Do you get a lot of black/blue smoke out of the exhaust? It may be the piston rings.

I thought black smoke was fuel. And blue smoke was oil.

honestly, i hardly see no smoke, but when i do see it ever so often its blue

Yup oil. You will probably see it on start up or going from a stop. You can try some of that "stop burning oil" stuff. Some of it works, some doesnt.

I have a '93 Civic LX with fresh oil leaking (slowly and only while driving) out of the top the engine, not the valve cover either. The leak is by the distributor cap on the left hand side of the engine. The Honda dealer says that it is a gasket where the distributor cap is connected. Another Honda owner and Acura owner say their cars both do that also, and they don't worry about it.

What do you guys think?

Replace the gaskets.

Uuhh. You shouldn't have oil in your distributor. It is probably leaing from where the distributor goes into the head.

Replace the distributor gasket.
