Oil Leak in timing belt area
My 96 Civic EX D15 Vtec developed an oil leak 8 months after replacing the timing belt, water pump and seals.
Thought for sure it must be the crank seal, but upon removing the covers and pulley I am not so sure. With the crank pulley off i want to start it and see where the leak is coming from but am unsure how tight the crank pulley bolt needs to be. I for sure cant tighten it to spec without putting the pulley back on, which may get it the way of seeing the leak. It usually leaks within a couple of minutes at idle, so it does not have to run for long.
I am looking for any comments from anyone who has done this. i sure dont want to ruin my motor

Re: Oil Leak in timing belt area
yea I know i can do it, just wondering how tight that crank bolt needs to be for a short run at idle... I for sure can't get it to torque specs without the pulley on..
