Oil Dipstick???
I have a '95 civic with a D16Y8 Engine from a '98 civic. I just had it installed, and I was checking the oil for the first time. It's slightly different from the D16Z6, with it guided vertically up by the T-Belt cover. The clip that guides the dipstick (DS) in place was stuck to the DS, so I had to pull fairly hard to get it out, and the clip came loose. When repositioning the DS back in, It looked like it went in flush, but infact it did not go in at all. It just kind of went off to the side, next to the oil pan, (you can see the DS protrude underneath the car, just to the right of the oil pan.) Because it was not going in all the way, I was not able to see the oil level. I kept adding oil, 3 quarts, because I thought it was extrememly low. (Everything seemed fine at the time, I did not know that it was not going into the block)
I fired up the car, and oil sputtered everywhere. I pulled over immediately, and oil started draining like crazy. I then noticed that the DS was not entering the engine, and oil was leaking out of that hole. I jacked the car up, but I can not see where the dipstick goes into the block. Do I need to take things off to make it fit, or do I just need 2 pairs of hands to get it to go in?
My car is sitting in a parking lot right now.....

Re: Oil Dipstick??? (EG6Honda)
well since the oil hole for the dipstick is on the Y series oil pumps, u probably took the whole thing out, its really easy to pull them out.
good luck, you may have to take the timing cover off, which unless u cut it off, you would have to take the crank pulley off.

Figured it out. Just had to let the engine cool down for an hour, so I could actually maneuver my hands in there. That piece that goes into the oil pan is really shady, and the o-ring on it barely creates enough friction to keep it in place, while I insert/remove the dipstick. We are going to secure that L-shaped piece to the block so that it will stay for good
