just wanted to know if the EM1's OEM shifter is a short shifter because I am thinking about getting the skunk2 short shifter because I want a smoother shift with less free play. If I do this I will be putting in energy shift linkage bushings. So i just wanted to know if the shifter will be an upgrade or a waste of time and money. ALSO, if I like the position of my shift **** where it is now, should I get the single bend or dual bend skunk2 short shifter? thanks

I wouldn't consider the EM1 stock shifter to be a short design either, that being said, imo the 1994-01 integra oem DC double bend shift has the very perfect position in 96-00 civic models

The Energy Suspension urethane bushings help a lot. And for a short shifter, at least look at the B&M, it's like $50 and is stainless steel. I've had two and like them very much. I somewhat polished the ball with very fine sand paper and it smoothed it out a lot, the way it comes, it is just a bit rough from machining.

While this is true. The bottom of the shifter where it connects to the shift linkage is wider than the civic's. Not exactly sure by how much, but I thought I'd give you fair warning if you decide to go this way.

I would take a Stock shifter out of the DC over a b&m or any of that other crap anyday.. New bushing make wonders

I can go down to the local pink n pull and pick up a complete integra shifter and linkage for $12 and bolt it right into my Em1.
Even modifying the integra shifter, is super easy and 15 mins worth of work for a regular civic

The DC shifter/linkage is a really good mod for the EM1. It's shorter and more direct feeling than the civic shifter. Just use the shifter rod part of the linkage, though...the DC stabilizer rod won't fit on EM1s because of the O2 sensor location.

I am looking at getting the B&M 45047 double bend. I see the DC shifter is about the same bend. How much work would the DC shifter need to fit a regular D16 linkage?

To fit a D linkage, you have to chop off some of the shifter base. It takes 2 - 5 mins if you have access to a vice and cut off wheel. You just match the DC shifter base to your D shifter base and mark how much u need to chop. Then chop.

Awsome thank you. I would only go for the DC shifter because it is black, not too crazy about the B&M bling but I think it has more reduction. I already have a short shifter in my car. I don't know the brand because it came with the linkage when I was building my car. I am 6"2" and the shifter is so short I have to lean forward to shift. I just don't want to lose the throw I have now for closer to stock.

So as for the throw alone, B&M or DC shifter?

B&M is shorter. The DC feels better. Test drive a stock integra if you can.

My Car (an em1) came with a blox dual bend and I'm 6'7" and I dont have to lean to shift and I like how it feels.
