Looking to determine when and if the OEM drivers side CV joint itself came with a female end that included 27 spline slots or 2-3 “blind spots”. The reason I am concerned is because the original drivers axle from my JDM B18C swap had a joint with a complete set of 27 spline slots. I ordered a replacement from Raxles (94-98 Integra axles) and the drivers joint had these “blind spots” where two or three splines from the intermediate shaft would sit and not sit in tightly like the rest.

Are these “blind spots” OEM or did the OEM Type R axles have different styled female splines?

Pretty confusing to actually type out this question, but hopefully it makes sense. Would love to hear someone’s two cents.

Any one have any idea if their CV joint looks like below? My original one has all complete female splines as you can see, but my new replacement from Raxles has about 2 or 3 blind spots.. Not sure if this affects the performance upon acceleration and deceleration as my intermediate shaft spline clearly has all 27 splines.

email them about your concerns. That axle needs to be completely inserted into the half shaft.

I've talked to Marty and he says that they normally all have blind spots. I am obviously not 100% convinced and would like to do some due diligence By the way, it does get completely inserted into the half shaft, but with the Raxles axle end having some blind spots (I do not have a picture unfortunately) it would not have complete "grippage" I guess.

I did some image searching and it looks like the Hasport drivers axle joint has a complete set of "teeth".

I then found the below image of another axle (unsure of brand) and I pointed to the "blind spots" which make the drivers side side not have a complete set of teeth. Is this common? I feel that Raxles should have been exactly like the OEM ones that I removed (or JDM OEM).

It's pretty common for any sort of splined shaft to have one wide slot referred to as a master spline for orientation purposes. But it wouldn't serve any purpose in this case. For what it's worth you'll break the cage in the outer joint, shear a shaft off or shear off the stub that goes in the transmission before you strip the splines.

Hmm... interesting. One "master spline" would make sense, but there was at least 2 of those master splines/blind spots in the Raxles joint. Do you know if the OEM Integra axles had one or two or none? What about the Type R? Wondering if my original was OEM and the fact that it was JDM made it have no master spline or the fact that it was a Type R.

If he says its not a concern, and you have it written in an email, plus EG says its not concern I guess you're good to go.

If they were all equidistant from each other I'd say it has to do with the machining process used.
Especially if there were 3 or 4 wide slots.

No OEM Honda axle that I can recall is made like that. But again, that in and of itself wouldn't worry me.
